My Very First Post

I think it's kind of funny that I'm finally putting together a blog. Not that it amounts to much but I do enjoy sharing some things about myself and what interests me.
I have learned so much about elementary education while working at a school -- how all the behind the scenes items work things you would never have thought about as a child. One thing I have to say is public education is more about the love and intangibles you get from being in an young educational environment than it is about the money (the pay has not been great).
We have a very eclectic group of teachers from all walks of life - some into motorcycles, others snowboarding and hiking, or even feng shui. Some are very formal in their approach, while others are very much get down in the dirt and get-er-done. All my teachers are great people to work even with their foibles at times. The foible I see most often is that caused by their diversity that of misunderstanding, not anything amounting to fisticuffs, mind you, but petty things that can make communication & open relationships difficult. Despite this I seem to be loved by all at my school. I say, "my school" because I guess I have taken a bit of ownership in this crazy mixture of a public school with a private school mentality.

I've even started receiving little small gifts from my students of drawings, food or other things they want to share. I do care about them and am concerned for their welfare. I even at times get to act as "nurse" and clean and bandage scrapes, etc.
